This three-light gothic window dates from the 15th century and is found in the West wall of the church.

When I visited Malahide back in 2025 I was originally focusing on the more traditional East window of the church, but the more I pondered, I felt much more drawn to this one. It is unusual in a functioning church building and really relates to the castle right beside it.

I thoroughly enjoyed working on it and I hope you enjoy the piece!

This work was first created in wax, moulded, cast and then carefully hand-painted by me in my studio in the West of Ireland.

Fragile edges, cracks and weathered stone are intentionally created as a reflection of life, which appears to be an unending fascination for me.

Variations in colour occur between editions. I do not aim to replicate any piece. If you have seen a particular example you love, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate your request.

This is an original artwork, extremely limited with only 10 editions.

A Little History

Malahide Abbey is a church ruin from the 15th – 16th century.

It is located right beside Malahide Castle and, despite it’s name, was never an abbey, but rather the parish church under the patronage of the Talbots.

The castle remained in the hands of the Talbot family from 1185 – 1975 when it was sold to the state. (Excluding about 20 years in the 1600s when they were removed for treason.)

The roof of the church was removed around 1650 around the time of the dissolution of the monasteries, though the records do not seem to be clear on this.

The abbey, castle and grounds are beautiful and open to the public. If you have the opportunity, I would highly recommend a visit!
